I'm a cognitive science researcher (UMD faculty) who trains undergrad and grad students in science communication. (I am Portal to the Public-trained, myself, at OMSI in Portland OR.) I currently have an NSF-funded project to bring language science research to the public at a new language museum in Washington DC called Planet Word. Many might think that social scientists would be better science communicators because of their content area expertise, but I think that's a myth! There aren't as many opportunities for social scientists to get training in scicomm. The mission of your organization sounds quite similar to the motivation I have behind my public engagement work, and I'd be interested in collaborating or being involved in whatever ways are helpful to the group!
