Idea Engines
Idea Engines are meetings where community and staff work together to convert an Idea into action, to generate a Campaign. This process involves a rigorous four-step vetting and co-design process to ensure that we define the problem and its true underlying cause(s); undergo an extensive landscape analysis and bring in expert advisors to refine our solution; design a plan of action; and align the organization’s staffing, funding, and connections to generate a successful campaign. Idea Engines must receive a “Greenlight” from the community and board to proceed to a Campaign.
Greenlight
Early in the Idea Engine process, the refined Idea is proposed to the board for an initial Go/No-Go evaluation to ensure the proposal is aligned with the organization’s mission and resources. With a “Go”, the Idea Engine team subsequently generates a full Greenlight proposal—which outlines the rationale behind the proposed campaign, the project plan and budget, the team required, and how it fulfills our review criteria, also known as “Smarti-B.” This is presented to the community for comment, and given final approval and budget resourcing by the board.
Campaigns are greenlit if they fulfill our Smarti-B evaluation criteria:
S - specific
M - measurable
A - achievable
R - relevant
T - time-bound
I - inclusive
B - bold
