UW scientists draw record crowds at Seattle’s public libraries. Scientists and librarians teaming up to bring real research to the public, in the place communities already trust to learn.

Libraries are one of the last free, trusted public spaces where anyone can come to learn. Scientists want to share their work with the public but rarely have a welcoming place or format to do it. ENGAGE in Libraries brings the two together.
[How Marion came up with the idea, which library said yes first, and what the first event looked like.]
[Number of events, attendance, topics. Example: “Over X evenings, X scientists spoke with X community members about…”] The Seattle Public Library called it one of the most successful programs it has ever run.
The model is already in demand in other regions. The ENGAGE Libraries Playbook is coming soon, so any community can run it without reinventing it.
