WHAT’S GOING ON & WHAT’S COMING UP
Solving For Science in Action
Scientists showed up this month — at the Capitol and at dinner tables across the country. Here's what we did together.

MEMBERS IN ACTION
Solving for Science Members at the Rally for Science
The Rally for California Science was a major gathering where researchers, students, and advocates converged on the State Capitol in Sacramento to push lawmakers and the public to pass SB 895 — bipartisan legislation that would put a $23 billion bond for scientific research on the November ballot.

Good Food. Real Talk. Better Science.
On May 8th, scientists in Portland pulled up a chair, poured a glass, and got to work — not on a grant, not on a paper, but on each other. Connection is the strategy. Dinner is just where it starts.

SOLVER SPOTLIGHT

Marion Pepper
Immunologist · University of Washington · Founding Member
Marion Pepper spent years studying how the immune system remembers disease. She's good at it. Really good. But somewhere along the way, she started thinking about a different kind of immune response — the one a democracy needs when science comes under attack.
She came to an ENGAGE workshop in Seattle in January 2025. She didn't come to be inspired. She came to do something.
She came to an ENGAGE workshop in Seattle in January 2025. She didn't come to be inspired. She came to do something.
What she built: a program with the Seattle Public Library system. Scientists as community resources. Librarians as connectors. Audiences of all ages, in formats designed to actually reach them.
